About Me

060Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog! My name is Dawn, and I started running in 2012 and crossed the finish line of my first marathon that fall.  Going from couch-to-marathon is unusual and probably a recipe for injury, but I was going through some tough stuff and running became my time and place to work through my emotions (you can read How I Started Running if you’re interested in the full story).

I thought I’d be one and done with marathons and running in general after I crossed that finish line, but like so many others, I was bitten by the running bug.  2013 saw me toe the line of several half marathons and 2014 took me to marathon #2.

Running began as a form of therapy for me (hence the name of this blog), but over time, it’s become so much more.  It’s given me mental (and physical!) strength, it’s made me an athlete, and it’s given me a passion and energy for everything else in my life.  This blog is where I chronicle my running adventures, mis-adventures, other fitness activities, our travels, and general life stuff I want to write about.

more about me (and the other frequent characters on the blog)

I graduated from MIT in 2008 with a degree in chemistry and moved to the DC metro area with my then-boyfriend Mike. We got married in 2011 in a chemistry-themed wedding (he’s also an MIT grad, with a major in chemical engineering).  This is us performing a unity ceremony in which we combined two clear chemicals together that reacted to form a red liquid – pretty neat!01-01We are pet-parents to two cute and lazy cats, Kitty and Lucy:

We hope to have real human children someday, but until then, these are our babies. We hope to live in a way that glorifies God and lifts up the family and friends in our lives.
